Donald Trump hasn’t left the confines of the White House for a while now, and it appears he’s forgotten how being outside works.
In the clip above from The Daily Show, Trevor Noah breaks down the slew of cringey moments that dogged the president on his recent trip to Arizona — from awkward greetings to mask-free factory visits.
“For a trip meant to highlight coronavirus safety, things got off to an awkward start,” says Noah, showing footage of Trump’s wince-inducing near-handshake with Governor Doug Ducey. “Sweet lord in heaven, that was a disaster. That looked like every time a white person goes in for a handshake with a black person.”
Noah then goes on to show Trump casually strolling mask-free around a mask factory, before making the same old excuses in a not-exactly-illuminating ABC interview.
“What’s clear is that between his refusal to wear masks, his weak excuses for not preparing for the pandemic, and his attempt to kill the task force, Trump’s field trip yesterday didn’t get great reviews,” Noah concludes.
